TRAINING
Purpose: The primary target group for Answering the Call to Ministry (A.T.C.) consists of lay leadership demonstrating leadership qualifications and willingness to perform the biblical functions of a minister and / or have the ability to take a leadership role in an auxiliary of the church, but who has not received adequate basic theology and ministerial training. The need around the world is incredible with about 50% of the ministers and pastors in major urban centers lacking adequate training.
Our focus is upon building people for the service aspects of the vision of the Senior Pastor. The ATC program will foster peer spiritual leadership and peer oriented service. A.T.C. will take many forms and expressions. They may become manifest as Congregational Ministers or Auxiliary Leadership serving the Senior Pastor’s vision and reaching out to develop outreach service projects within the community in the various fields of health, the environment, peace building and education. Curriculum: Count the Cost – This course will help evaluate the call of God on your life and prepare you for the stages that Spiritual Leaders experience as they progress and the qualities they must embrace as they mature. This is an eight-week course.
Hermeneutics – This course will explore the “interpretation” or “explanation” of the Biblical text. This course envelops the skills of Biblical interpretation based on contextual, grammatical and historical research. Thus whenever we read a text or hear a statement, which we seek to understand and interpret, we are involved in exegesis. This is a twelve-week course. Teach the Teacher – This course is designed to familiarize the student with the principles underlying successful teaching and methods of applying these principles in Christian learning situations. This is a sixteen-week course. The student must also complete six months of student teaching.
New Testament Overview – In this course we will examine the Gospel message as it is explained through the New Testament in the context of history, geography, and culture. The chief events, characters, and teachings of each book will be studied in reaction to God’s ongoing plan of redemption. This is a twelve-week course and is required for categories 1, 2 and 3. |
