In 1987, God gave Dr. Ben a vision for SCC a “Spiritual Hospital” a place of healing, training and covenant relationships: where a practical holistic message of restoration and healing through Jesus Christ, influences a lost and dying generation.
Dr. Ben’s works are a true illustration of what it means to “protect and serve” in both his spiritual and civic duties. His passion, leadership and influence extend well beyond the four walls of SCC into the communities of DeKalb County and beyond. He has received numerous accolades for his dedication through servant leadership. He is the recipient of the Atlanta Gospel Choice Award, for outstanding pastoral leadership, and recognized in Who’s Who in Black Atlanta for his achievements. For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Ben has served as a law enforcement officer with the Department of Public Safety of DeKalb County.
Dr. Ben is actively affiliated with several organizations and partnerships where he serves faithfully as a community liaison; establishing youth initiatives to mentor, coach and rehabilitate youth. He is a state certified mentor, advisor to the Women against Domestic Violence non-profit organization, Director of Chaplin Services for DeKalb County Public Safety and the advisor to the President of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of DeKalb County. He also dedicates himself to serving as a motivational speaker with a concentration in organizational leadership and management.
Dr. Ben earned a Bachelor Degree’s in Criminal Justice and Business Science, Masters of Education Degree in Adult Education, an honorary Doctorate of Divinity and is a candidate for Doctorate of Business Administration (2015). He serves in ministry with his wife, Dr. Sherry Gaither and is a proud father and grand-father.
Dr. Ben is a member of the illustrious Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., an organization of men bound together by friendship, knowledge, brotherhood, common goals and aspirations.
